When Andie's studies come before the crew, the members are not happy and decide to kick her out. As Andie and Moose leave, Moose tells Andie all about Chase, how popular he is and then he introduced her to Sophie ( Cassie Ventura), Chase's ex-girlfriend. Andie goes around the school bums into Chase, Moose comes back. During lunch she sits alone until a student named Robert Alexander the Third A.K.A Moose comes to sit with her, they quickly become friends. During Andie's first day of MSA, she observes the school. During a rehearsal, Tuck, the leader of the 410 tells the group that they should rehears every day, no excuses, no being late nd no cell phones. Chase Collins persuades the school director and his brother Director Blake Collins ( Will Kemp) to allow Andie to enroll. She agrees, and Tyler leaves Andie to go on tour with Nora, confident she can make it. The two head back to her place and Tyler convinces Sarah to let her join MSA. Tyler does great moves and wins the battle. The two have a dance off, during their battle a boy in a hoodie, Chase Collins ( Robert Hoffman) was watching. When Andie refuses, Tyler decides to battle her for it. Sarah is tired of the crime and harassment by the 410 and tells Andie she will have to go live with her aunt in Texas if she doesn't return her life around, and Andie refuses to go and runs away.Īfter a prank in the subway Andie goes to The Dragon, a popular dance club, where she runs into her childhood friend Tyler Gage ( Channing Tatum), Tyler tries to persuade her to audition for the Maryland School of the Arts, where Andie has to audition for a place, thinking it will help her life as it did his. She rehearses regularly with her crew, the 410, to keep the title of the illegal competition, The Streets. While she is doing badly at school, it is her passion for dancing that brings something good into her life. Andy now lives with her mother's best friend Sarah (her guardian), but feels like she does not belong anywhere.
Her mother died of cancer when Andie was a child.
